Tokyo is the best city in Japan for plus size shopping, with the widest selection of physical stores and the most variety in style. Whether you’re looking for affordable everyday basics, feminine fashion, officewear, formalwear, streetwear, or alternative Japanese fashion, Tokyo has more in-person plus size options than anywhere else in the country.

It’s also one of the few places in Japan where you can shop some of Japan's more unique plus size and size-inclusive brands in person, including PUNYUS, ACDC RAG, and Taberunosky. Many of Tokyo’s best plus size stores are clustered in major shopping areas like Shinjuku, Harajuku, Ikebukuro, and Ginza, making it possible to visit multiple shops in one day. In this guide, I’ve mapped out Tokyo’s best plus size clothing stores, including Japanese brands and retailers carrying sizes from 2L up to 8L and beyond.

Punyus remains an icon in plus-size Japanese fashion. Their pieces are unique and there are no other brands that offer similar colors and prints for plus sizes in Tokyo! If you're near Shibuya or Shinjuku, you need to check it out. Punyus Shibuya109 has the largest store with its full collections in stock. There is a second location near Harajuku station, but this store primarily carries their smaller sizes, with less selection for plus size. Further down the line at Shinjuku Station, you'll find a third location.
